Back up and restore

How-to

For anyone moving to a new computer, or who wants a copy of their setup. Riff has no account, so the backup is a file.

Export a file on one computer, import it on the other.
  1. In Library, under Backup, click Export to file. Riff downloads riff-backup-<date>.json with your links, saved points and Voice, and says what went in, like Exported 12 points and 3 links.
  2. On the other computer, install Riff, open Library, click Import from file and pick that file.
  3. Riff adds the links and points it doesn't already have, restores your Voice if the file holds one, and says what it added, like Imported 12 points, 3 links and your Voice. Importing the same file again says Nothing new to import. Everything in that file is already saved.

Reply history and dial positions aren't in the backup. A file that isn't a Riff export is refused: That file isn't a Riff backup. Pick a .json file exported from Riff.
