Write an Instagram caption (beta)

How-toNew in 0.3.0

For anyone posting on instagram.com from a desktop browser. Captions are in beta: Instagram only shows the caption box after you've added media, so this part hasn't been checked on every layout yet.

A caption with the hook up front, link in bio, and the hashtags at the end.
  1. Start a new post on Instagram, add your photo or video, and click into Write a caption…. The panel switches to post, tagged IG caption.
  2. Add your notes and press Enter. About the first 125 characters show before "more", so the hook goes first.
  3. Links in captions aren't clickable, so the ending says the link is in your bio, and a row under the draft, Check your bio link points to:, shows which link that should be.
  4. Click Insert into caption box, read it over and press Share.

Captions can run to 2,200 characters; Short, Medium and Long aim for about 150, 500 and 1,200, and with Hashtags on Riff adds up to 5. If the panel doesn't switch, flip it to post yourself; if Insert can't find the box, the draft is copied for you to paste Insert couldn't reach the post box.
