Set up your Voice

How-to

For anyone who wants replies that sound like them rather than like an AI. Five minutes, once.

Five fields, once. From then on every draft is signed with your name.
  1. Open the panel and click the Voice tab. Until you've filled in a name or an offer, Compose also shows a tip, Tell Riff who you are and what you offer, so every reply sounds like you., with a Set up Voice button.
  2. Fill in the five fields, plain and short:
    • Name or brand, e.g. "Dana, founder of a small design studio"
    • What you offer, e.g. "A 15-minute website audit that finds why visitors leave"
    • Who it's for, e.g. "Solo founders and small shops"
    • How you sound, e.g. "Direct, warm, a little nerdy. Short sentences. No hype."
    • A reply you wrote that sounds like you, optional: paste one of your best
  3. Check the guards under them: Never say, No em dashes, No hashtags and your Default language Never say, em dashes, hashtags and reply history.

Everything saves as you type, and a small Saved appears under the fields. Your name shows on every draft ("Dana replying to @priyabuilds"), and the whole profile stays in Chrome's storage on this computer. It's part of your backup Back up and restore.
